Sunday, April 27, 2003 Planets do not have a Command Rating of their own. They use special rules: Undeveloped (ie. mining or outer) planets may have up to 1 squadron of fighters assigned to each. A squadron consists of 12 fighters, 18 for Hydrans. Populated planets may have up to 2 squadrons. Major planets may have up to 3 squadrons. Small space-based stations (CPLs, SAMs, etc.) may have up to 2 hangar modules worth of fighters each. If orbiting a planet (or on the same tactical map), these fighters count towards the planetary limit. Monitors (once developed) may be assigned to planets at no Fleet Cost. No planet may have more than one Monitor at a time. Planetary defenses may not operate more than 35 hexes away from their planet. Weapons may still be fired at units farther away. If a permanent base is orbiting a planet, ignore all above restrictions but all planetary defenses must fit within the base's CR, including fighters and Monitors. Mid-Turn Speed Changes (strategic): Here are the restrictions for changing speed mid-turn. No ship may move more than its maximum speed in sectors in a single turn. After making a speed-change, a ship must wait 3 impulses before it may make another. No ship may move 3 impulses in a row. If your speed-change results in such, one of those movements is lost. Blackfoot Pass: Sector 1909's asteroid field has become too dense to traverse. The only way through is the Blackfoot Pass, which connects sectors 1808 and 2009 and may only be entered or exited via those sectors. Several of you are approaching Middle Years technology (Speed-31 ships, etc.). As such, here are the rules for building and operating Middle Years ships where they differ from Y-era. All Middle Years ships move at Speed-7 and use the new supply rules. Dilithium Requrements for Early Years Ships: W-anything 0 YFF/YDD 1 YCL/YCA 2 YDN/YBB 3 Dilithium Requrements for Middle Years Ships: FF 1 DD 2 CL 3 CA 4 BC 5 SHC 6 DN 7 BB 8 Variants on hulls require the same amount as a normal hull. Note that several races have CAs that are can be upgraded to a BC (or DD to CL, etc.). These upgrades will require the difference in dilithium costs. Command Ratings: Freighter: 5x(F&E Command Rating) W- and Y-era: 5x(F&E Command Rating) + (Number of Flag Boxes) Middle Years: 10x(F&E Command Rating) + (Number of Flag Boxes) Klingon ships count Security instead of Flag. Freighter CRs may only be used for other freighters. F&E Command Ratings can be found on the Master Ship Chart of the module in which the ship is presented. Converting a YCA to a YCC adds 5 to the CR unless I actually have an SSD for the YCC. Converting a smaller Y-era ship to a Leader (Ph-1s) does not increase the CR or Command Cost. Command Costs: SB, YDK Always the flagship BB, DN, SHC 15 BCH 14 CC, CCH, BATS 12 CA. NCA, CWH, CF, MON 10 CW, CWL 9 CL, CLC, BS, YBS 8 DW, DWL, HDW, MB, F-OL 7 DD, DDL, F-L 6 FF, FFL, FH, FLG 5 POL, F-S 4 Courier 3 Standard 100-pt minefield 2 PF/Interceptor 1 Fighter 1/2 Variants cost the same as the ship they were based on unless the GM states otherwise. A W- or Y-era ships costs the same as its MY counterpart (ie. a WCA, YCA, and CA all cost the same). "Courier" includes Free Traders (and variants), Priority Transports, and similar ships. FedEx (FX) couriers may only be built and operated by the Federation Express company, and therefore have no CR or Cost. Duplicate Class Penalties are being dropped, except those for fighters, interceptors, and PFs. This takes effect immediately, and includes any ships configured to use the new supply rules. ------ Oops. That should have been 7x(F&E Command Rating) + (Number of Flag Boxes). Thanks! 10x is reserved for X-ships.
