The HMS Director and HMS Falcon from 1st Fleet rendevouzed with the HMS Prince and HMS Monarch from the 2nd RDF and engaged the hostile forces around the Hel'nat'i White Dwarf under the command of Vice Admiral Klev'ik Brep'jo'xe.
The base was similar in form to the ships but showed no signs of self propulsion. It orbited the white dwarf at a distance of approximately 50,000 km. Remains of the base were consumed by the white dwarf and were unavailable for analysis.
The fleet also serverly damaged a chrystaline vessel and destroyed a squadron of smaller fighter-like vessels that were defending the outpost. The vessel is reported to be larger in size than any previously encountered. The chrystaline vessel was routed from the battle and is being persued by the assault force.
Two ships of the fleet suffered minor damage and the other two received superficial damage during the battle. Most damage is attributed to environmental effects from the proximity to the white dwarf. Casualties are reported to be very light. Additionaly, three pilots from the 5th Royal Attack Squadron were killed in the battle. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of their familes.
Over the past few months Federation and Hydran scientists and military officials have been analyzing data obtained from Starfleet encounters with these creatures and have been investigating methods of dealing with them. Yesterday's assault, according to the Ministry of Science, demonstrates the success of these endevours.
A second chrystaline outpost was discovered orbiting the Ur'feg'nen White Dwarf by Ministry of Defense reconnasaince vessels. No other ships have been attacked in Hydran space, but civilian vessels are urged to avoid the area immediately around sector 1018 until the Ministry declares this region safe.
The Ministry of Economics expects this declaration to have little effect on commerse as no major shipping routes pass through this area. In a statment this morning, the Interior Minister stated that "there is no reason for worry, the easy victory yesterday by Royal Defense forces demonstrates that these creatures are well under control.
